Guided Tour to Dollsteinhola - A Journey into Nature and Legend
Join us on a unique excursion from Kråen Gard to the legendary Dollsteinhola on Sandsøya, one of the most fascinating sea caves along the Sunnmøre coast. The journey takes you through open coastal landscapes along the Atlantic before the trail climbs towards the cave entrance, located about 60 metres above sea level in the mountain known as Dollsteinen.
Dollsteinhola is a 180–200 metre long sea-carved cave with several chambers and narrow passages leading deep into the mountain. The cave was formed by powerful ocean waves at a time when the land level was lower than today, and archaeological discoveries indicate that people may have sheltered here in prehistoric times.
Along the way, your guide will share the many stories and legends connected to this mysterious place. One of them tells of King Arthur, who according to local legend hid a treasure in the cave, and that the cavern was once believed to stretch beneath the sea all the way to Scotland.
This experience combines dramatic nature, local history and a true sense of exploration. After exploring the cave, the excursion concludes with a simple lunch based on local ingredients before returning to Kråen Gard.
