Jazzcafe VEGARD HOLUM SINGS – A Tribute to Chet
On October 17, we invite you to a jazz café evening at Kråen Gard
VEGARD HOLUM SINGS – A Tribute to Chet
Raised in a musical family surrounded by choirs and singing, Vegard Holum developed an early fascination with melody - how it alone can create tension, and suddenly become powerful or gentle in interaction with other musical elements. As an aspiring jazz trumpeter, his attention quickly turned to the true master of melodic trumpet playing, Chet Baker.
Baker’s effortless and horizontal melodic phrasing across constant chord changes was deeply fascinating. There was never any need to impress or showcase technical brilliance. He simply was the music.
Line-up
Vegard Holum – trumpet and vocals
Norvald Dahl – piano
Lars Martin Vik – bass
Børre Dalhaug – drums
Holum now wishes to dive deeper into Baker’s musical universe. He has selected his personal favourites from the catalogue and takes on the role of trumpeter, vocalist, and bandleader. To interpret the music, he has gathered an outstanding team of local musicians, and together they will pay tribute to “The Prince of Cool”.
This evening we will also serve a meal perfectly suited to the atmosphere:
A generous platter of carefully selected cheeses and cured meats with accompanying delicacies, featuring ingredients from excellent Norwegian local food producers.
Pre-ordering is required.
Doors open at 18:00
The musicians will take the stage at approximately 19:30
Open until 01:00
A warm welcome to the farm!
Best regards,
